EARMP Community visit May 12th - May 15th, 2015.

The Eastern Athabasca Regional Monitoring Program (EARMP) will be visiting the communities of Black Lake, Fond du Lac, Stony Rapids, and Wollaston Lake May 12th to May 15th. The EARMP team is working with the University of Saskatchewan's Science Ambassador Program to teach high school students more about the environmental sampling that takes place nearby their communities and potential careers opportunities in the sciences. A lesson on fish anatomy and dissection with the help of a local elder in the community has been planned for each community. The classes will take place on the following days: Wollaston Lake - May 12th , Stony Rapids - May 13th, Black Lake – May 14th, Fond du Lac – May 15th. The community visits with the students will also provide a hands on learning experience and facilitate classroom discussion on environmental topics and mentor students interested in further exploring careers and/or education in the biological sciences.
