Stony Rapids

    Stony Rapids is a northern hamlet in Saskatchewan with a total population of 243 residents1. The community is located on the shoreline of the Fond du Lac River approximately 80 kilometers south of the border to the Northwest Territories. The Fond du Lac River connects the community of Stony Rapids to the Fond du Lac Denesuline First Nation, Uranium City, and Camsell Portage. An all weather road also connects the community to the Black Lake Denesuline First Nation.

    Currently, the small community has a northern settlement office, post office, school (kindergarten to grade 9), Northlands College, two hotels, health clinic, forest protection base, Saskatchewan highways office, construction companies, Service Canada office, RCMP detachment office, 2 chartered airline companies, a float plane water base, and an airstrip.
